SHAKESPEARE GRAPHICS
MULTI-COLOR BLOCK PRINTS:
WOOD / LINOLEUM

Reduction Method Technique

Each edition was pressed from a single block, using a water-
base ink formula that produces a soft matte finish and a
delicate transparency.
A combination of water-base and oil inks were used for the "MACBETH" lino-print.

The complete edition is printed on the first color cut.
Ink is brushed on the block and hand-rubbed in transfer to rice papers.

The block is then re-cut for the next color, and the same process
is repeated for each additional color until the full design is realized.

In printing the "FOOL" editions, several colors were applied,
then blended directly on the block and pressed simultaneously:
this process was combined with the 'reduction cutting'.

Editions are naturally limited, because by the last color application,
the block has been so reduced, that it can never be used again to repeat the same design.

Each print is signed and numbered and titled with a quote from the play represented,
which inspired the theme and interpretation of the respective prints
