| The Shakespeare Art Museum was founded in 1984 as a
non-profit organization by Wolf Tomkins and Hannah Tompkins. Located in
Ashland, Oregon’s historic Old Railroad District, it housed the visual
works and writings of artist Hannah Tompkins. At the museum, Hannah
often gave gallery talks and tours sharing her wit and wisdom of the
Shakespearean experience.
The museum closed in 1990. Hannah moved to Clearwater, Florida. She died of cancer five years later. This Site is a memorial to her works on Shakespeare. Her text and writings that accompany her art works are presented in plain language bringing new insights to understanding both the artistic interpretations and Shakespeare, in terms of the human condition.
